Sports Medicine for Every Athlete

While many associate sports medicine with professional and elite athletes, our expertise extends to athletes of all ages and abilities. In fact, the principles of sports medicine apply to anyone experiencing a musculoskeletal issue, whether it’s from sports, daily activities, or an active lifestyle.

Expertise in Non-Surgical Injury Management

Approximately 90% of sports-related injuries do not require surgery. Our sports medicine physicians specialize in non-surgical treatments, including:

  • Injury management through rehabilitation and therapy
  • Office-based procedures such as injection therapy
  • Home therapy programs and coordination with physical therapists

Advanced Treatment Options

Arthroscopy - A minimally invasive procedure using a small camera to diagnose and treat joint issues. Often used in knees, shoulders, elbows, and ankles to repair cartilage, remove loose bodies, or relieve impingement.

ACL Reconstruction - Replaces a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the knee using a tissue graft, commonly performed for athletes with knee instability after twisting injuries.

Meniscus Repair or Removal - Addresses tears in the knee’s cartilage. Surgeons may repair or remove the damaged meniscus to relieve pain and restore mobility.

Rotator Cuff Repair - Reattaches torn tendons in the shoulder, helping restore strength and range of motion—often needed in overhead or contact sports.

Labral Repair (Shoulder or Hip) - Repairs tears in the cartilage lining of the joint, commonly caused by repetitive overhead motion or rotational forces in the shoulder or hip.

Tendon Repair (e.g., Achilles or Patellar) - Reconnects torn tendons caused by overuse or sudden force, often seen in jumping or sprinting sports.

Ligament Reconstruction (e.g., UCL in the Elbow) - Rebuilds damaged ligaments such as the UCL—frequently performed on throwing athletes, like baseball pitchers.

Cartilage Restoration - Uses techniques like microfracture or grafting to repair damaged cartilage, often for younger athletes with localized joint damage.

Fracture Fixation - Surgically stabilizes broken bones using plates, screws, or rods to ensure proper alignment and healing.

Joint Stabilization - Tightens or repairs ligaments around unstable joints—commonly used for recurrent shoulder dislocations or similar conditions.
